Learnings from Unleash Change Summit 2022, Amsterdam

Change is such a big part of our lives right now that it is hardly surprising that many leaders and change specialists have chosen to dedicate two days to discussing #change.

As a speaker at the Unleash Change Summit 2022 (https://www.unleash-change.com/speakers), and given the high concentration of change experts attending, I was determined to prepare and add value to the audience, bring original, well-prepared and well-presented ideas to the audience and keep a curious, learning mind so that I can absorb the thinking of my peers.

After two intense days at the Summit, filled with inspiration, learnings and networking, I have had some time to reflect on the key take-aways.

One of my personal highlights was having the opportunity to reflect together with Brian Sheehan on what drives successful transformation and to validate how important it is to enable leaders to lead change.

But there are six other key learnings which I am sharing below:

1.       Business leadership is (still) the key factor for any successful change journey.

2.       Having a north star and direction is the main factor for benefit realisation (business leadership is the second).

3.       The highest performing teams have massive and constant change. Change fatigue is not a sign of ‘too much change,’ but of ‘the changes are not being led properly.’

4.       Working with influencers within your organisation to enable change is the new black – utilise the people who are the ‘go-to’s’ in your organisation and play on people’s fear of missing out.

5.       Story-telling is an effective way to enhance your change journey. The role of the Change Narrator is the newcommer within the change world.

6.       Fun is a key factor for any successful team or (change) journey.
