Leading Organisational Transformation and the Implementation of a New Matrix Structure

Our client set out a 5-year strategic direction focussed on cost-effective growth, partnerships, and people development. To achieve this, they restructured the business by merging and embedding the previous country and regional structures into a new matrix structure.

Enabling Change was contracted to support the senior leadership enabling this transformation and with the implementation of the new matrix organisation.​

Our Approach

Firstly, we set a clear direction for the transformation journey together with the General Manager. This laid the foundation for building the regional implementation plan for the transformation journey alongside the Regional Leadership Team.

Secondly, we developed a structured mobilisation process for the Regional Leadership Team with the aim of creating alignment and ownership for the transformation: the direction, organisation, ways of working and implementation. Please refer to our key deliverables image below. 

The Results

The mobilisation process has overall increased alignment among the Regional Leadership Team for the transformation journey and enhanced the shared ability to lead and implement the transformation. 


The Leadership Team’s own evaluation confirmed that:​

  • The clarity on the transformation journey increased by 27% ​

  • The shared understanding of the business impact and level of change increased by 41%​

  • The shared ability to lead and implement the transformation increased by 26%​
